About the Author

My name is Megan Leigh Thacker.  I'm a junior in the Communications Disorders department at Marshall University.  If things go according to plan, I will have a Bachelor's Degree in Communications Disorders in the spring of 2007.  I like to think I'll eventually have a Master's, too, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.  I'd love to be a speech therapist, and I want to work with children on a daily basis.  I can't answer the "where" or the "how" yet.  Get back with me in 2008 or 2009.  I'll probably still be at Marshall.  : )

*Pause*

I'm having slight difficulty trying to summarize myself. . . can I provide a glimpse of who I really am in a few paragraphs?

I'll try.

I'm at the Drinko library at Marshall University.  Sitting on top of my legs, rubbing the back of my neck, and leaning in towards the computer screen.  A random passerby might call it "slouching", but that sounds so. . . lazy. I'm trying to enter a state of profound thought, mind you.  :-)  My eyebrows are lowered and everything.  It's actually a rather dramatic pose.  I'm a little overly dramatic.  (And verbose, apparently.)

I'm a dreamer, an idealist...in certain contexts, a cynic.  I've been called a "cheerful pessimist."  I'll always predict the worst -- but I'm a happy person, really.  : )  I like people, so I tend to see the best in them.
