Acrostic Poem
*This is a fictitious poem written by a man with dysphagia*

Diagnosed with a swallowing disorder.

You have to change the way you eat and drink.

Swallowing is no longer easy for me.

Please tell me how to deal with all of this.

Happened to get choked today.

Aspiration is a word they used, but it’s all new to me.

Going to a speech therapist to help me learn to compensate.

Interesting techniques she is having me to try.

Am I ever going to be the same?
