FUN "STUFF":

Playing around on the Internet is one thing that I like to do when I get bored.  It is also something that I like to do when I should be doing homework.  One site that is a major cause of my procrastination is facebook.  I become very consumed searching for and looking at pictures of my friends and their friends at colleges across the country.  If you are a member of facebook then you know what I am talking about.  I also love reading different quotes.   This is a site to find fun qoutes about friendship, dating, and heartbreak.   Instead of doing my homework, I also tend to play games on the computer.   My favorite game to play is, Poppit.  In this game, you have to pop a bunch of balloons to win prizes and tokens.

DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC:

There are a lot of sites on the Internet that are helpful to those who are speech-language pathologists (SLP) and audiologists.  One site that is helpful in finding jobs or information on speech and language disorders is the ASHA website.  This site is home to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).   The site has the address of where the ASHA office is located, a phone number, and an e-mail directory.  The ASHA website also has tons of other links, so check it out for yourself.  A website that is helpful for those who are interested in becoming SLPs is the National Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA) page.  This is an organization for students to join while still in school.  A document that every SLP and audiologist and every aspiring SLP and audiologist is to be familiar with is the ASHA Code of Ethics This is the doctrine by which every SLP and audiologist is to work by.  It tells about ethical standards and codes of how we are to be professional.  It is very important to read and be familiar with this document.

RESEARCH RESOURCES:

For my project in 315 I have chosen to research autism.  There are many helpful Internet sites out there that are available to me.  One site that I have found to be useful so far is the Autism Society of America.  This site provides research, support, and education for the autism community.  It has a list of the staff and board of directors.  Another site that I thought would be credible would be a government organization.  I chose to research the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) site.  This site talks about treatment and possible causes of the disorder.  This site also talks about some speech and social skills of those with autism, which will help to answer my essential question.  A great site I also discovered is the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD).  This site is also a government one so I know the information is credible.  It has information on communication problems in autistics.  There is also information on normal speech and language development in children.  These sites will benefit me greatly when finding information for my project.

PERSONAL INTERESTS:

This is the most fun section for me because I get to look at sites that that contain pictures of things I like.   One of my most favorite things to do is go to the beach.  This past spring break some of my friends and I went to Daytona Beach, FL.  We had a blast and I would go back in a heartbeat.  I love looking at the homepage for Daytona Beach because I look at all the pictures and it reminds me of all the great times we had.  Another one of my favorite pastimes is to go shopping.  Two of my favorite stores are American Eagle and Victoria's Secret.  I love American Eagle's hoodies.  My favorite things to buy from Victoria's Secret are perfume and PINK pajamas.  Another interest of mine are my friends: Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, and Ross, that is. :)  Friends is my favorite show of all time and it will forever be my favorite.  I love watching the reruns and still talk about it as if the show has never ended.
