Goals For Church Growth

Introduction

I. 3 bedrock goals for growth.

Discussion

I. BE BALANCED.
A. Avoid extremes.
1. Liberalism (Jn 4:20-24; Mat 22:23-33).
a. Loosen, go beyond, substitute.
2. Legalism (Mat 15:1-9).
a. Bind, fall short of, add.
(1) Legalism & liberalism often join hands.
B. Adhere to conservatism.
(Deu 5:32 NKJV)  "Therefore you shall be careful to do as the LORD your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

1. In teaching (2 Tim 3:16-17; 1 Pet 4:11; Ax 20:27).

2. In worship (Ax 2:42; Col 3:17).
3. In life (Rom 12:1-2).
C. Apply truth.
1. To others (Mat 7:1-5; 16:5-12).
2. To ourselves (Mat 13:9-17; Jn 21:20-22).
a. Personal application (Mat 7:21; 25:14-30; 25:31-46; Eph 4:1-6).
II. BE BUSY.
A. Saving souls.
1. Open our Bibles (Rom 1:16; 2 Tim 2:15).
2. Open our doors (Mat 11:28-30).
3. Open our homes (1 Cor 16:19).
4. Open our hearts (Jn 3:16).
B. Strengthening the church.
1. A body needs nourishment (Ax 20:32).
2. A bride needs love (Jn 13:34-35).
3. A family needs togetherness (Ax 2:46-47).
a. 1 Cor 11:17-34.
C. Sharing with the needy (Js 1:27; Gal 6:10).
III. BE BLESSED.
A. God gives the increase (1 Cor 3:6).
B. God gives the blessings (Js 1:17).
C. God gives the crown (Rev 3:7-13).
Conclusion

I. If we are balanced and busy, we will be blessed with growth!
