Introduction
I. Have you ever struggled with saying a good word for Jesus? (1 Pet 3:15).
II. John Mark was a man who learned to share his faith.
A. But it was a rocky road (Act 12:25; 13:13; 15:37ff; Col 4:10; 2 Tim 4:11, Book of Mark).
III. In the Book of Mark, Mark is primarily writing to a Gentile audience.
A. It is as though he is saying, "Allow me to introduce to you, Jesus."
IV. How would you introduce Jesus to People?
Discussion
I. THE PROMISED ONE (1).
A. Jesus was/is God's Son (1 Cor 2:2; Mat 16:16; Jn 12:21).
B. John was the forerunner (2-3).
1. Isa 40:1-5; Mal 4:5-6; Mat 17:10-13
C. Jews were being baptized (4-5).
II. THE IMMERSED ONE (9-11)
A. He was obedient (Heb 5:8-9).
B. He was baptized.
C. He was divinely introduced.
III. THE TRIED ONE (12-13).
A. Jesus was tried.
1. God tries us (James 1:2-3).
2. Satan tempts us (James 1:13-14).
B. Jesus was faithful.
1. Bread, Tempt, Worship.
C. Jesus was victorious (Heb 2:18; 4:15).
IV. THE PREACHING ONE (14-15).
A. Mark 1:21-22, 27; John 14:10; 17:8; 6:63; 12:48; 14:23
V. THE CALLING ONE (16-20).
A. He calls people out of sin (Col 1:13).
B. He calls people into service (Mk 1:17; 2 Thess 2:13-17).
VI. THE CLEANSING ONE (40-41).
A. Jesus can cleanse us.
1. Sin is like leprosy: destroys, separates, & kills.
a. Isa 1:18-20
B. Jesus can be moved with compassion.
C. Jesus is willing.
Conclusion
I. I hope this morning Mark has interested you enough in Jesus that you will want to become a Xian.
II. Truly Jesus is the: Promised, Immersed, Tried, Preaching, Calling, Cleansing One.
